The CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services prepares individuals to deliver, coordinate, and manage person-centred services to individuals, groups, and communities. This qualification is ideal for those wanting to work in roles such as case management, client support, or program coordination within the community services sector.

At this level, workers apply specialised skills and work independently under broad guidance. They support people to improve their personal and social wellbeing and may also supervise staff or volunteers.

To complete this qualification, students must undertake at least 200 hours of work placement in a relevant community services setting. Skills are applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards, and industry codes of practice.

Career Outcomes

Students who enrol in the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services and do not complete all the 15 units but are deemed competent in some of the units will be awarded a Statement of Attainment (SoA) for the units they have been deemed competent.
The full qualification CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services will only be awarded to student’s who have completed all 15 units and deemed competent.
Graduates of the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services are qualified for a variety of rewarding roles in the community services sector, including:

Qualification Entry Requirements

There are no Training Package entry requirements

Macallan Entry Requirements

  • Students must be a minimum of 18 years of age, or turning 18 years of age prior to commencement of their study.
  • Students require a completed Year 10 or equivalent; or Non school-leavers are selected according to eligibility and merit, vocational experience, previous study, LLN level and personal competencies .
  • Student’s must have English proficiency as guided by Macallan College’s English Proficiency Policy and Procedures.
  • IELTS Test – overall score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no individual section score less than 5.5.
  • Students need to be physically capable of performing manual handling tasks.
  • Commitment to completing the mandatory 400 hours practical placement.
  • Ability to obtain a clear National Police Check at the students cost.
    • Police check showing a serious conviction of murder, sexual assault or a conviction and a sentence to imprisonment for any other form of assault will not allow entry in our Certificate III in Individual Support.

NOTE: All applicants from AL3 countries must sit an IELTS test.

  • Pre-entry Oxford English online test result of no less than B2.2 with a minimum score of 71.

Pathways

After completing this diploma, students may choose to:

  • Study a Bachelor of Social Work, Human Services, or Community Development
  • Complete additional qualifications in Mental Health, Youth Work, or Alcohol and Other Drugs
  • Undertake the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) to become a trainer or assessor

Certificate Issuance

Upon successful completion of all required coursework and a minimum of 200 hours of supervised work placement in a relevant community services setting, students will be awarded the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services.
